Fire's loss and college supremacy

Hey

The Fire lost in their bid to make it to the MLS Cup by losing to the New England Revolution 1-0. The goal was scored on a fantastic bicycle kick by Taylor Twellman. Even though they lost, the Fire made a huge improvement. It was so big, Chris Armas was thinking about not retiring. But he ultimately did retire.

On the college scene, UIC and Loyola both move on to the Horizon League Championships.

UIC continues to tear it up with a 4-0 victory over Wright State. They will play Milwaukee at 7:30 PM at Loyola Soccer Park.

Loyola received a bye and will play Green Bay on Nov. 16 at 5:00PM at Loyola Soccer Park.

Depaul advanced to the Big East Semifinals with a 1-0 win over Cincinatti. Whitney Young product Willy Lara started. They next will face Notre Dame at 5:00 PM on Friday the 16th. The game will be televised on CSTV.

Latest Happenings

Congratulations goes out to Andrew Ricks and the Lane Tech boys soccer team for once again winning their sectional and making it farther than any other city school in this year's state tournament.

The Chicago Fire advanced to the conference final by beating DC United in a two game series 3-2. The second game was exciting with the Fire roaring out to a two goal lead only to watch it disappaer in a classic United surge that saw United score two in the second half. But the Fire were able to hold on and now face the New England Revolution this Thursday. The game will be televised on ESPN 2 at 6:30 Central. I think with their new look, the Fire can beat the Revolution (like they did a month ago) and get to the MLS Cup this year. Get your plane tix to DC ready! You can keep track of all the Chicago Fire and MLS activities by visiting their web site.
